During his time at the Airport he enjoyed preparing foods for the airlines and for important charter flights including the recently deceased Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau.
Bert Ponte finally came back to Kingston in November 1981. After the birth of his daughter, he accepted a position as a Sous-Chef at the Ramada Inn Hotel in Kingston. Well there he was selected as employee of the month on numerous occasions. By July 1982 he had proven himself to be a great asset to the company. It was with great confidence and many recommendations that Bert became the replacement as the Executive Chef. After years of hard work and success with the hotel and with the support of a great teacher, Steven Edwards, he started taking on outside catering jobs.
In 1992 he was awarded the Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises contract and in 1993 Bert was ready to venture out on his own.
Today along with his partner and wife Diane (who is always ready to assist with menus, ideas and her very own decorations to help those special moments become special memories) They enjoy continued success and relationships with Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises and Rideau Acres.
Bert and Diane would like to thank all their clients that support them year after year and are always ready to assist past clients & welcome new ones. |
